The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) announces that Paul M. Gallo, Ed.D., FACSM, ACSM-CEP, ACSM-EP, ACSM-GEI, EIM, has been selected as the next editor-in-chief (EIC) of ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal® (HFJ). Dr. Gallo was selected through a rigorous application and interview search process from among a pool of talented and qualified candidates. His scholarly achievements, experience with ACSM’s certification programs and committees, applied science background, publications and exemplary service as the associate EIC for HFJ support his forthcoming work with this journal.
Dr. Gallo has been the director of Exercise Science and Wellness at CT State Norwalk since 2004 and associate adjunct faculty at Teachers College Columbia University since 2011. He is a past president of the New England Chapter of ACSM and is the immediate past chair of ACSM's Committee on Certification and Registry Boards (CCRB) Continuing Professional Education Subcommittee. Dr. Gallo joined ACSM in 2002 and became a Fellow in 2017.
Dr. Gallo will work with current EIC Brad A. Roy, Ph.D., FACSM, ACSM-CEP, EIM, over the next several months and will assume official duties as EIC beginning January 1, 2025.

As leader of the HFJ editorial board, the EIC has full content responsibility, ensuring that the mission, scope and core information is considered during the submission and publication of articles while working with the editorial board and journal staff. HFJ is an official journal of ACSM. It is written for exercise leaders, personal trainers, health/fitness instructors, rehabilitation specialists, health/fitness directors, clinical exercise physiologists, worksite health professionals and program directors.
